The long rectangular coffer features deeply carved panels across the front, framed by architectural moldings and set on substantial carved feet. The hinged top opens to reveal a spacious wood-lined interior with a divided storage compartment and aged iron strap hinges.

Inspired by traditional Renaissance-era Italian marriage chests, cassoni were originally used to hold linens, clothing, and household possessions. This piece retains a beautiful time-worn patina and works equally well today as decorative storage, at the foot of a bed, behind a sofa, or in an entry.

Wear, surface variation, and imperfections are consistent with age and use and contribute to the chest’s antique character.
