A rare and exceptional antique hand vanity mirror by Tiffany & Co., New York, circa 1890-1910.
This beautiful mirror embodies Tiffany's celebrated Japonisme and Indian Revival period under Edward C. Moore and Lockwood de Forest. Crafted in cast brass with a rich, warm gilt patina, the frame features an intricately chased foliate vine border with a lotus-form mount and turned handle with urn finials — a motif very similar to the example held in the permanent collection of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
The piece retains its original beveled glass mirror plate and is wonderfully tactile in the hand, with a substantial weight and soft glow that only comes with age.
Clearly marked on the reverse:
TIFFANY & Co. / 0350 MAKERS 7332 / M
Pattern No. 0350, inventory No. 7332, with the 'M' director's mark for the John C. Moore / John C. Moore II era. A highly collectible early Tiffany Studios dressing table accessory.
