This listing is for an antique English landscape painting.
The painting is by Thomas Pyne (1843-1935) and it depicts a coastal village scene. In the foreground, a woman stands facing the shore, surrounded by several birds.
Pyne was a well known artist during his time. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy, where he was celebrated for his artistic delicacy.
This oil on board painting dates to the late 19th century (possibly early 20th century). A tag on the reverse indicates that this painting was sold by Walker's Galleries Ltd (London) in 1953.
The painting comes in an ornate gilt wood frame.
The framed piece measures about 20 x 12.5 x 1.85 inches.
