Standing 37.5 inches tall, the pedestal has dramatic architectural presence while maintaining a compact footprint. The rhythmic oversized spool turning rises from a molded circular plinth raised on four small turned feet and supports a round molded display top.

The dark brown wood exhibits beautiful visible grain and warm tonal variation, particularly across the deeply turned central column. Its scale makes it especially well suited for displaying sculpture, a bust, urn, vessel, large planter or other decorative object.

The piece has been carefully cleaned and conditioned with oil, revealing the character and variation of the wood while retaining its older surface. It has not been lacquered or coated with a new clear finish.

The precise maker, age, origin and wood species have not been identified. The traditional construction, deeply turned form and naturally accumulated surface wear are consistent with an older piece. No maker’s mark has been found, and it is therefore offered without a specific geographic, maker or wood attribution.
