These are standard for hollow-core antique brass beds resulting from decades of use and moving. They do not compromise the structural squareness or framework of the bed. Superficial scratches, abrasions, and scuff marks are visible across the high-contact areas, particularly near the top rails, side posts, and individual vertical spindles. spindles. The brass shows a heavy, darkened, and somewhat uneven natural patina with areas of surface oxidation. The original clear factory lacquer coating has completely worn away or peeled in multiple areas, causing the exposed metal to oxidize over time.Hardware / Rails: The lower connecting iron cross-rails show signs of typical age, surface dust, and finish wear where they connect to the joints. I did not attempt to clean this in any way as I don’t want to do the wrong thing and I don’t have the time or patience. Note that I purchased a house that belonged to an artist/collector who had passed and most of the contents remained. I am therefore unfamiliar with details of the items I am selling.
