Exceptional piece of indigenous art carved by Chief Johnson, circa 1931.
Hailing from Ketchikan, Alaska comes this remarkable model totem pole...a table top version of the legendary full size original, which towered some 55'+. The iconography of this totem is described in numerous websites that cover its historic creation and significance. This example is beautifully hand carved and painted. A genuinely rare piece.
Measures 3.75"x 4.5"x 19". In excellent condition with minor handling wear and age related toning of varnish. Clearly signed and dated to the reverse.
