An exceptional work of post-modern Murano mastery. This iconic squat, organic bulb-form vase represents a historic design collaboration between legendary Finnish designer Timo Sarpaneva and elite Venetian glasshouse Venini & C., conceived circa 1989–1990.
The piece beautifully demonstrates the complex doppio incalmo (double incalmo) hot-fusion glass technique. A vibrant, rich candy-apple red body is perfectly banded to a contrasting, deep amethyst-purple upper shoulder. The entire structural casing transitions smoothly into a thick, crystal-clear lower base. The underside features a flawlessly ground, polished pontil scar characteristic of elite Murano furnace standards.
While missing its original paper label or faint diamond-point signature, it is a textbook and unmistakable design-catalogue example of Sarpaneva’s acclaimed work for Venini. An ideal statement centerpiece for high-end Mid-Century Modern, Postmodern, or Scandinavian-inspired interiors. Unmarked
