Executed … Read more An original etching by noted American artist depicting an atmospheric Venetian canal lined with historic architecture and traditional boats. Executed with Evans’ expressive, finely worked linework, the intimate composition captures the architecture, water, and everyday character of Venice with wonderful Old World charm.

Evans studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and traveled extensively throughout Europe, studying and working in cities including Venice, Florence, Verona, Naples, Rome, and Paris. She exhibited in the Paris Salons of 1911 and 1912 before becoming an important figure in the early Arizona art community. Her work is represented in numerous institutional and private collections.

The original work is signed in pencil “Jessie Benton Evans” along the lower margin and is beautifully presented in a custom silver-gilt frame with a generously scaled, textured ivory mat. Professionally reframed by Framer’s Workshop in Scottsdale, Arizona in August 2015, the piece is protected with Tru Vue Conservation Clear glazing offering 99% UV protection.
