Finally, it dawned … Read more It took me at least a week to figure out why this Patric Coogan painting felt familiar. Finally, it dawned on me that it echoed some of the imagery and dreamy quality of Henri Rousseau's famous painting; 1897 masterpiece The Sleeping Gypsy (La Bohémienne endormie).

It features a fantastical, dreamlike desert landscape where a mandolin-playing woman in a striped garment sleeps beside a large water pitcher, while a lion muses over her in the moonlight.
