Knud Basse, Bornholm, Denmark. Stoneware Bird Figure, 1960s. Rare stoneware bird figure with the characteristic organic form and deep, nuanced glaze typical of Basse’s work. The soft modelling and matte earth tones give the sculpture a calm and refined presence. Origin: Denmark. Material: Stoneware. Dimensions: H. 18 cm, W. 11 cm. Period: 1960s. Condition: Excellent condition with minor signs of wear. Knud Basse (1916–1983) was a Danish ceramic artist known for his sculptural animal figures created in stoneware with subtle and lively glazes. His works from the 1950s–70s are today highly regarded for their blend of naturalistic expression and modernist form.
