Executed in delicate pink and white filigree and raised on a shimmering gold polveri glass foot, this elegant trumpet-form vase is a refined example of the technical mastery for which Murano glassmakers are celebrated. The graceful trumpet silhouette is decorated with alternating pink zanfirico canes and white latticino filigree, creating a striking interplay of colour, light and movement. The intricate linear decoration draws the eye upwards towards the gently flared rim, while the textured gold polveri base provides warmth and subtle contrast to the delicacy of the translucent body. Latticino is one of Murano's oldest decorative techniques, originating during the Renaissance and characterised by fine opaque white glass threads encased within clear crystal. from this tradition developed zanfirico, a more elaborate form of filigrana in which individual glass canes are twisted before being carefully arranged and fused together. The assembled bundle is then reheated and blown into its final form, requiring exceptional precision to preserve the crisp geometric patterns and delicate spiralling effect throughout the vessel. The result is one of the most technically demanding and visually captivating techniques in Venetian glassmaking. Although unsigned, the quality of the filigree work, elegant proportions and refined execution are reminiscent of pieces produced by Venini and other leading Murano furnaces during the mid-twentieth century. It is a beautiful example of post-war Venetian art glass, demonstrating both extraordinary craftsmanship and the enduring appeal of traditional Murano techniques.
