This mid-20th-century Turkish Anatolian runner presents a bold, minimalist pattern of repeating stepped diagonal bands extending continuously across the field. Alternating stripes of deep forest green and warm camel-brown create a strong zigzag rhythm, producing an effect that is both graphic and architectural. The absence of a central medallion or enclosing border allows the pattern to flow uninterrupted from end to end, emphasizing the runner’s long, narrow proportions. Slight variations in the spacing and alignment of the stepped bands reveal the character of hand weaving and soften the otherwise disciplined geometry. The restrained two-color palette gives the piece an unexpectedly modern appearance while remaining rooted in Anatolian village textile traditions. Its linear design is especially well suited to a hallway, gallery, corridor, or alongside a long console, where the repeating diagonals can introduce movement, texture, and understated visual interest without overwhelming the surrounding furnishings.
