Crafted by a French artisan atelier, the piece combines a finely carved solid beechwood frame, luminous gold-leaf decoration and rich coffee-brown velvet upholstery.
The graceful curved back and arms create the characteristic Corbeille, or basket-form, silhouette. Floral garlands, scrolling details and classical ornamentation are carved throughout the frame, while tapered legs reinforce its balanced neoclassical proportions.
The beechwood frame has been recently refinished by hand in gold leaf, bringing depth and definition to the carved decoration. Deep brown velvet covers the back and arms and is finished with elegant button tufting, creating a luxurious contrast with the gilded frame.
A distinctive feature is the removable seat cushion, upholstered in decorative scenic fabric inspired by a romantic 19th-century pastoral landscape which is pressed into the fabric.. This illustrated textile introduces an artistic element and makes the settee particularly eye-catching.
The seating has also been recently re-padded with quality filling for improved comfort and support, making the piece suitable for both decorative display and regular use.
