A striking limited edition silkscreen print titled "Canoe" by acclaimed Kwakwaka'wakw artist Doug Cranmer (1927–2006), one of the most influential contemporary Indigenous artists of Canada's Northwest Coast.
Created in 1996, this vibrant composition combines bold geometric forms in black, crimson red, cobalt blue, and ivory. The design is derived from Cranmer's celebrated 1978 painting "Canoe", translating traditional Northwest Coast visual language into a refined modernist composition.
Signed, dated 1996, and numbered 80/90 in pencil, this work represents one of only ninety impressions produced.
Doug Cranmer's work is held in numerous important museum and institutional collections and is recognized for bridging traditional Kwakwaka'wakw iconography with contemporary abstraction. His bold compositions have become highly sought after by collectors of Northwest Coast Indigenous art and twentieth-century printmaking.
The reverse retains the original descriptive information sheet detailing the artwork, edition, and Cranmer's artistic career.
An exceptional piece for collectors of Indigenous Canadian art, Pacific Northwest art, or modernist graphic design.
