A stunning, monumentally scaled vintage original limited-edition serigraph titled "Sorrento" by the world-renowned Italian Neo-Impressionist master Nicola Simbari (1927–2012). Originally published circa 1980, this breathtaking, sun-drenched coastal work captures the brilliant, vibrant spirit of the Mediterranean dockside. Simbari’s iconic style—often referred to as "Simbaresco"—brilliantly translates the rich impasto of palette-knife gestures into a multi-layered, highly textured silkscreen graphic full of intense primary colors and dramatic atmospheric light.
This rare, large-format statement piece is hand-signed by the artist in pencil along the lower right margin and hand-numbered from a strict, limited-edition run of 300 worldwide (this example being number 205/300).
The artwork comes professionally double-matted and beautifully housed in a minimalist gallery frame under protective glass. An exceptional, investment-grade acquisition perfect for luxury coastal properties, traditional estates, or high-end mid-century modern interior spaces seeking a grand-scale visual anchor.
ARTIST BIO:
Born in San Lucido, Italy, and raised in Rome where his father was a prominent Vatican architect, Nicola Simbari studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma. He rose to international acclaim in the 1950s, winning the coveted commission to paint the murals for the Italian Pavilion at the 1958 Brussels World's Fair. Inspired by avant-garde masters like Joan Miró and Georges Braque, Simbari developed a hyper-vivid, energetic colorist approach that won him high-profile collectors worldwide.
CONDITION:
Excellent vintage condition. The paper fibers remain bright and flat under the glass with no waving, foxing, or mat burn. The ink layers are wonderfully fresh and free from sun-fading. The substantial frame is structurally rock-solid with only minor, superficial age-appropriate shelf wear. Ready for immediate placement.
