An sculptural carved gilt hardwood side table or architectural fragment crafted to mimic a 17th century Italian Baroque style. The piece features a hand-carved pedestal base composed of opposing Ionic scroll volutes curving outwards, joined by a central acanthus flourish. The base is hand-decorated in a polychromed painted finish in shades of burnt sienna, black, and ochre with gilt highlights throughout. The flat top is finished in a softer parchment-toned surface bordered by a hand-carved scalloped edge with aged gold leaf accents. The table has been intentionally distressed and weathered, giving it a richly aged patina. The versatile piece is crafted in an Italian Baroque style, and well-suited for a variety of spaces as a side or drinks table, plant stand architectural accent, or display pedestal. The design is reminiscent of California romantic designs by Dennis and Leen, Rose Tarlow, and Formations. From an estate in Marin County, CA.
