Chairs were made in Pennsylvania mid 19th century probably before the Civil War. You find sets of 4 and sometimes 6 but rarely 8 or more. Chairs retain their original apple green paint with stenciled decoration and freehand decorated crest rails with grapes and foliage. Chairs have spindle backs above nicely shaped seats. Chairs are 33 1/2" tall and 16 1/2" wide and 18" deep. The seat height is 17 1/2". The original paint shows varying degrees of wear throughout the set. Some chairs saw more use than others. Chairs are structurally sound. Nice bright cheery color and form to brighten any room. See less
