This one features a troika of 3 horses pulling lovers through the cold and windy night. Each level that opens has varios heights. Perfect for rings, earrings, and lockets. Or secret messages... Lowest level is perfect for the wider pieces at almost 2" height.
In very good condition! Signed on the lid, at the bottom. Black lacquer on the outside with beautiful fairy tale scenes and the inner boxes are red lacquered. The art of Russian lacquer miniatures originated in the late 1700s, with the village of Fedoskino establishing the first school in 1795. Other prominent centers include Palekh, Mstera and Kholui. I believe it is from the 1960 to 1980 period. Box is in quite nice condition.
