English silverplate ashtray by Mappin & Webb featuring the enamel flag badge of the S.S. Arandora Star. Originally launched in 1927 for the Blue Star Line, the ship later became known for its wartime sinking off the Irish coast in 1940. This example was produced as a souvenir for a 1931 Christmas cruise.
