This is … Read more It is hard to find a hand painted umbrella stand as beautifully detailed and painterly as this one. This is a really special piece. This was made in Japan during the Meiji period (1868-1912). You have blue and pink blooming chrysanthemums with cherry blossoms all on a celadon ground. Cute little blue and white birds sit on the cherry blossom branches. The composition is well balance and goes around the entire hexagonal form of the umbrella stand. This would look so lovely in the corner of a foyer filled with umbrellas or walking sticks. See less
