**Rare Antique 15" WMF Art Deco Lead Crystal Spirit Decanter / Flagon**
An exceptional, oversized statement piece of German barware from the height of the Art Deco movement (circa 1925–1935). Produced by the legendary Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF), this grand 15-inch spirit flagon perfectly embodies the structural, geometric principles of the Bauhaus era.
This piece features a heavy, beautifully hand-cut lead crystal body topped with its original, minimalist nickel silver (Neusilber) collar. The collar bears crisp, authentic pre-WWII WMF export hallmarks, including the classic stacked "WMf" shield, the material mark "NS", and "MADE IN GERMANY" indicating it was produced for international export.
A highly desirable feature for serious glass collectors: both the glass stopper facet and the neck are hand-etched with the matching factory assembly number "38", proving the stopper and decanter body have remained a perfectly fitted, airtight pair for nearly a century.
**RARITY & HISTORICAL CONTEXT:**
While standard 9-to-11-inch WMF decanters appear occasionally on the secondary market, "magnum" or "exhibition-size" 15-inch flagons are extraordinarily rare and highly sought after by collectors. During the Roaring Twenties and Prohibition era, WMF crafted these oversized statements for elite estate entertaining and prominent showroom displays. Their massive, soaring silhouettes were meant to anchor luxury bar carts and serve as architectural focal points in a room. Because of their sheer scale, weight, and the immense difficulty of hand-grinding a perfectly airtight seal on crystal this large, very few were made—and far fewer have survived intact with their original matching numbered stoppers. This is a true museum-quality centerpiece for an Art Deco purist.
