This is a well carved floral vine and ribbon architectural fragment mounted on a wood backing. Sometimes called swags or festoons, they feature high relief botanical motifs. These deep carved realistic elements were greatly inspired by the 17th century master carver Grinling Gibbons, who is known for his works in Windsor Castle, among other places. This would look good as an overdoor, above a fireplace or just a wall sculpture. Good overall condition with some minor losses and age wear. This is a fragile piece so should be shipped by a shipper and not posted. See less
