18th/19th Century Spanish Colonial Roman soldier santo figure, possibly Saint Michael, c.1800 that has been converted into a lamp.
This folk art piece is hand carved in wood with hand painted details throughout. It highlights a Roman military uniform with a patterned tunic and cape and a peaked hat. Note the realistic face details and glass eyes. Standing on a floral painted wood base. Overall good condition for its age with paint wear and losses, old restorations to the legs and hand as seen in the pics. All loose joints glued and secured. At some point wired as a lamp and recently fully re-wired and in working condition. Height to top of hat 28.5”
