Crafted from beech wood and beech plywood, the table displays the distinctive geometric construction associated with Fledermaus furniture: a circular tabletop, round lower shelf and grouped slender vertical bentwood supports punctuated by spherical wooden details. The design reflects the progressive aesthetic of Vienna Secession and early Viennese Modernism, combining traditional bentwood craftsmanship with a remarkably architectural and modern silhouette. Furniture of this type was produced by the major Central European bentwood manufacturers Jacob & Josef Kohn and Thonet. As the original manufacturer’s label or stamp has not survived, the exact maker cannot be conclusively determined and the piece is therefore offered as attributed to Jacob & Josef Kohn or Thonet. The table has been carefully refurbished and traditionally finished with shellac polish, preserving its rich dark-brown appearance and original period character. Minor signs of use and age remain consistent with an authentic piece more than a century old. with its sculptural construction and strong historical design language, this table makes an excellent collector’s piece for interiors centered around Vienna Secession, Art Nouveau, Wiener Werkstätte, Austrian Modernism and European design of the early 20th century.
