Widely regarded as one of the masterpieces of nineteenth-century chromolithography, Racinet's work documents the evolution of architectural and ornamental design from antiquity through the Renaissance. The publication became an indispensable reference for artists, architects, interior designers, and craftsmen, celebrated for its extraordinary color printing and remarkable accuracy. These three plates focus on richly ornamented Renaissance decorative designs of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
