The work serves as a prime testament to Jacoulet’s celebrated ethnographic travels throughout Micronesia, blending traditional Edo-period ukiyo-e printing methods with a striking Art Deco fashion illustrative style. The master craftsmanship is visible in the delicate gauffrage texturing applied to the flowing folds of her vibrant red wrap dress. Hand-signed in ink by the artist with his official red Jonque (Sailing Ship) seal. The lower right margin displays the block carving mark of legendary master artisan Maeda Kentarō.
