Published in London during the 1830s, the plate is associated with acclaimed artist and lithographer Edward Lear, whose refined draftsmanship contributed significantly to Gould’s early ornithological publications. The bird is shown perched in profile with a rich green head and back, pale underparts, finely patterned wings, and a graceful elongated tail. Sparse foliage and the restrained background emphasize the specimen’s elegant form and vivid natural coloration.
