The original … Read more “Pinkie” (1794) is an oil painting of a young girl that has transfixed viewers for hundreds of years. The original is at the Huntington Museum with “Blue Boy”. Many replicas have been made over the years of varying quality but this one is a museum quality vintage print made by the Huntington. Collotypes were a huge innovation in printing of the era that allowed crisp, lasting prints. The frame alone is beautiful. It is an original gorgeously detailed gilded and painted frame with pink and deep aqua details that compliment the image. The print itself is in perfect, vibrant condition. Original matting shows the piece’s years but incredible patina so I kept it as is. There are no dates on it that I could find without opening it up but based on research, materials, style and patina and what I know of its history I would place it somewhere between 1920s-1950s.
