HISTORIC BRO-BARK DACHSHUND DOG SHOW CRATE — WWII-ERA KENNEL
Rare wooden Dachshund carrier by Bro-Bark Products, connected to the historic Bro-Bark Kennels operated by Raymond and Lucile Brophy of Missouri.
Bro-Bark’s history reaches back to the WWII era. Lucile Brophy appears in 1943 American Kennel Club records, and a Bro-Bark Dachshund was exhibited at the Dachshund Club of America’s Golden Jubilee show at New York City’s Pennsylvania Hotel in November 1945. Bro-Bark later advertised its wooden dog crates in The American Dachshund in 1961.
The crate features hand-painted “Dachshunds” lettering on both sides, its original Bro-Bark Products maker’s plate, wood construction, metal ventilation grilles, carrying handles, hinged door, vintage latching hardware and chained closure.
Approximately 24” long × 16” deep × 15” high.
Authentic vintage condition with scratches, finish wear, staining, edge wear and oxidation to the metal components. Its aged condition and patina reflect decades of actual use. Please examine all photographs.
A remarkable piece of American Dachshund, kennel-club and dog-show history. Perfect for a Dachshund collector, vintage pet memorabilia collection, grooming salon, pet boutique or distinctive rustic display and storage.
Bro-Bark’s WWII-era history and 1945 New York show connection are documented; the exact production year and this individual crate’s show history are unknown.
