A Fine Antique George III Mahogany Carved Pie-Crust Tilt-Top Tea Table, 18th Century
Made in England, circa 1760-1780
A very fine 18th-century George III mahogany tea table with a carved pie-crust top, raised on a vasiform turned central pedestal and tripod base of carved cabriole legs terminating in ball-and-claw feet. Retains an old, richly developed dark finish, with an early period butterfly patch to the underside of the top, applied to arrest a natural shrinkage split — a common and honest period repair on tables of this age and construction.
Dimensions: 27½" x 28" top | 26¾"H (42¾"H with top raised)
Condition: Old dark finish, with an old butterfly patch to the top addressing an age-related shrinkage split. Use and wear marks consistent with age.
