Titled "Spring Snow at Kiyomizu, … Read more An authentic mid-century Japanese woodblock print by the legendary Shin-Hanga movement master Kawase Hasui (1883–1957). Titled "Spring Snow at Kiyomizu, Kyoto" (春の雪 京都清水), this breathtaking composition captures a heavy, ethereal snowfall over the majestic pagoda and main wooden veranda of Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Two figures holding traditional umbrellas add a poignant splash of color to the cool, atmospheric blues of the scene.

The right margin features the hand-carved title and date block denoting the original 1932 creation. The left margin showcases the lifetime/early posthumous publisher stamp for Doi Eiichi (土井英一) along with the highly regarded artisan blocks for carver Harada and printer Seki. Hand-printed on fibrous handmade washi paper with fantastic ink saturation, it comes beautifully preserved in a vintage dark-toned wood frame with structural back panel boards. See less
