An exceptional and increasingly scarce pair of Model 1315 lounge chairs by Knoll, beautifully blending sculptural Mid-Century Modern design with an outstanding provenance.
These chairs have been expertly reupholstered by the renowned Irwin's Restoration of Phoenix, Arizona using New Old Stock (NOS) vintage Knoll Kampala fabric—a remarkably rare upholstery that preserves the authentic character and aesthetic intended for premium Knoll furnishings. The subtle woven texture and rich blue-gray tones complement the warm walnut frames beautifully, creating a timeless, sophisticated presentation.
The solid walnut frames remain in excellent original condition, showcasing graceful flowing lines, beautifully sculpted armrests, and a rich natural patina developed over decades of careful ownership. They have been gently cleaned and conditioned to preserve their original finish rather than refinished, allowing the craftsmanship and character of the wood to shine.
A Remarkable Provenance
Beyond their design pedigree, these chairs carry a wonderful history. They were originally owned by a Vice President of Ford Motor Company, whose career took him across the globe. As Ford relocated him throughout his executive career, these chairs traveled with him from home to home, becoming constant companions through multiple international moves. That remarkable journey speaks not only to their sentimental value but also to the enduring quality of Knoll's craftsmanship—furniture designed to last a lifetime and beyond.
Today they have been thoughtfully restored for their next chapter while remaining true to their original spirit.
Whether placed in a living room, executive office, library, or collectors' space, these Model 1315 lounge chairs offer exceptional comfort, timeless Scandinavian-influenced design, and a story that few pieces can match.
