Charles Schneider
A 1925-1930 French art deco pendant light in wrought iron holding a nice Schneider shade in mottled coloured glass. This typical orange-red colour can only be found on Schneider made lamp shades. Schneider called the colour 'Tango' . The flat bowl is held by the original Schneider mount in wrought iron. Schneider employed a blacksmith and had his own forge on his compound in Epinay France. Here wrought iron mounts for vases were made as well as fixtures for nightlamps perfume burners and chandeliers. The typical shape of the Schneider forged iron pieces is easy to recognize.
The bowl is signed Schneider in gold paint, a common signature on the older (1922-1925) lamp shades. It has a diameter of 34 cm (13,39"). The pendant has a total height of 60 cm high (23,62 inches). Very suitable for high ceilings. But if your ceiling isn't that high I can easily shorten the fixture. The shade is without chips or cracks and the iron mount has a nice deep-brown patina. It is rewired with an American standard socket.
