Pierre d'Avesn for Lorrain
A rare French art deco lamp in moulded-pressed glass made around 1930.
The lamp was made by Lorrain verrerie de belle étoile. Several important Lorrain pieces in moulded-pressed glass were signed d'Avesn.
The small lamp is 20,5 cm (8,07") high and the hexagonal shade has a diameter of 6,3 inches. The glass base is signed P.D'AVESN with the usual d'Avesn signature in ink. This model is represented in the old Lorrain catalogs.
The lamp is in very good condition. The brass mount still has its original chrome plating that shows only minimal signs of wear consistent with age. One small chip on the rim of shade which hardly shows with the shade in place. The lamp is rewired with cloth covered twisted cord. For the USA or Japan I will place an American candelabra base socket and US 2-prong plug.
Shipping to the USA: I send my parcels with Dutch post PostNL - incoterm DDP (delivered duty paid) so no additional duties or tariffs for the receiver. Parcels are distributed in the States by USPS.
Free shipping offered.

On Lorrain: In 1926 the famous Daum glass manufacturers opened a new plant in the village of Croismare near Luneville. A year later it started a production of pressed glassware. The new company 'Les Verreries d'Art Lorrain" merged with the one Daum already owned in this village "Les verreries de belle étoile". For these plants the Daum company employed the well known designer Pierre d'Avesn , who till that time worked for René Lalique, as its artistic director. d'Avesn stayed in office till the Lorrain branch closed down in 1934. Some prestigious Lorrain models were signed P.d'Avesn like the bowl of this lamp. After the bankruptcy of Lorrain d'Avesn became the director of the Hanots/Verlys glass manufactory of the Holophane company.
