A highly collectible Art Deco chrome-plated parrot bottle opener and corkscrew attributed to Negbaur, produced from Manuel Avillar’s celebrated 1929 patented design.
Among the most iconic figural bar accessories of the Art Deco era, this sculptural opener beautifully captures the streamlined Machine Age aesthetic. The stylized parrot features bold geometric lines, a stepped architectural base, and a concealed folding corkscrew tucked neatly into the rear of the body. The bird’s open beak functions as the bottle opener.
The recessed cavity where the corkscrew folds bears the “NE” stamp, a marking associated with early Negbaur production examples of Avillar’s patented design.
Equally functional and decorative, this piece displays beautifully on a bar cart, cocktail cabinet, or bookshelf and is sought after by collectors of Art Deco barware, corkscrews, and Machine Age design.
