Marcel Vasseur & Daum
A French art deco lamp made circa 1925-1930 in wrought iron of excellent quality. The forged base holds a beautiful shade in mottled glass produced by Daum. It is signed with the usual Daum Nancy France signature scratched in the warm glass paste.
The lamp was made by Marcel Vasseur a blacksmith who had like E.Brandt and R.Subes a large workshop in Paris making pieces both on command as for his own outlet. Vasseur was represented at the 1925 art décorative exhibit in Paris. The company used several different brands of shades on its lamps. Muller ones in clear moulded-pressed glass as well as Daum Muller or Schneider shades in double layered hand-blown glass with colour inclusions. The Vasseur catalog is of course no part of this sale.
The lamp is 28,9 cm (11,38") high. And the shade has a diameter of 4,92 inches. The lamp is in excellent condition. And comes rewired with new cloth covered twisted cord. For the USA I will rewire the lamp with an American candelabra base socket and US 2-prong plug.
