Signed "SALL" in the lower-left corner, this piece captures a traditional West African genre scene depicting women pounding grain in a village, with one woman carrying an infant on her back.

Reverse-glass painting (sous-verre) is a celebrated tradition in Senegal, where artists apply paint directly to the back of a glass pane to be viewed through the luminous front. Sall was part of the pivotal generation of mid-century traditionalists and innovators who documented daily cultural life and heritage.

Condition:
Good vintage condition. Unframed piece.
