Powerfully modeled with remarkable realism, the majestic male lion stands poised in quiet authority, his muscular form and flowing mane rendered with extraordinary attention to detail. Every strand of fur, contour of the face, and subtle curve of the body has been carefully carved by hand, giving the sculpture a lifelike presence and timeless grandeur.

Adding to its historical charm, the top of the base bears a hand-carved date of “1888,” firmly placing the piece within the Victorian era — a period when lions symbolized courage, nobility, imperial strength, and refinement in home décor. The sculpture displays a beautiful warm natural wood grain with deep reddish-brown tones that shimmer beneath the light, enhancing the dimensional carving and giving the figure a wonderfully rich patina developed over more than a century.
