The piece features an elegant footed form, with a generous rounded bowl raised on a tall stem and complemented by an elaborate fitted lid. The intense emerald green glass provides a dramatic background for the extensive gold-painted ornamentation, executed in scrolling and relief-like decorative motifs. Particularly striking are the applied faceted glass jewels in red and green tones, incorporated into the gilded decoration to create a sumptuous, almost jewel-like appearance. The scalloped borders and carefully applied gold details further emphasize the luxurious character of the piece. The lid is surmounted by a decorative clear glass finial, providing an elegant contrast to the richly colored body and completing the sophisticated silhouette. Objects of this type reflect the exuberant decorative tradition of Venetian glassmaking, in which brilliant color, gilding, elaborate ornament, and applied glass elements were combined to create luxurious objects intended for both practical and purely decorative use. with its rich emerald coloration and jewel-like decoration, this impressive covered vessel would make a striking addition to a collection of Italian decorative glass, Venetian interiors, or mid-century European decorative arts.
