The relief-like surfaces and the striking turquoise-aquamarine-green glaze reflect the archaic, symbolic formal language of his ceramic wall reliefs, for which Mauke became particularly well-known in public spaces.

The unsigned objects are considered to be by Rudolf Mauke due to their unique design. They were presented by the city of Wolfsburg in the 1960s as prestigious gifts of honor to public figures and distinguished members of the Volkswagen organization.

Rare collector's items of German post-war modernism with a sculptural presence—both as functional desk aids and as independent ceramic works of art. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
