The piece features … Read more Spectacular early 20th-century metal and glass display shelving unit, originally used in a historic Modernista pastry shop. The piece features two sculptural freestanding metal supports with elegant curved profiles, circular bases and decorative finials. Multiple shaped glass shelves are positioned at different heights, creating a light, open composition despite the shelving unit’s impressive scale. Its sinuous metal structure and refined proportions reflect the influence of European Art Nouveau and early Modernist commercial interiors. The aged metal surface retains a beautiful original patina, with warm brass-toned areas, oxidation and visible traces of its former use. Originally designed for displaying pastries or confectionery, it would now make an exceptional shelving unit for a residential interior, boutique, gallery, restaurant or retail environment.
