The piece … Read more Exceptional early 20th-century freestanding display stand in metal and glass, originally used in a historic Modernista pastry shop. The piece features a highly sculptural metal frame composed of an elongated U-shaped base and a large arched upper section. Four glass shelves are arranged asymmetrically at different heights, creating a light and dynamic composition designed for the elegant presentation of pastries and confectionery. Its curved structure, decorative finials and refined proportions reflect the influence of European Art Nouveau and Catalan Modernista commercial interiors. The metal retains a beautiful aged surface with warm brass-toned and silver-toned areas, oxidation and traces of its original use. An unusual and highly decorative furnishing that could now be used as a display stand, plant stand, sculptural shelving unit or presentation piece in a residential interior, boutique, gallery, restaurant or hotel. In good antique condition, with wear, marks, oxidation and patina consistent with age and use. The glass shelves show normal signs of wear.
