The plates are titled le courageux, le gentil, and le loyal, each depicting a mounted rider in formal dress guiding a horse through controlled movements of high-school horsemanship. These engravings come from friedrich wilhelm baron d’eisenberg’s celebrated equestrian work du manége moderne, engraved by bernard picart and published in the 1720s. The british museum records the work as containing 55 plates by picart after baron d’eisenberg, dated 1727–1728, executed as etchings and engravings on paper. The set has a beautiful decorative presence, combining the elegance of 18th-century costume, refined horse anatomy, and the disciplined art of classical dressage. The clean linear engraving, wide margins, and subtle age toning give the prints an authentic antique character. Ideal for a library, study, equestrian interior, country house, or refined gallery wall. The three plates included are: le courageux, plate xxiv le gentil, plate xviii le loyal, plate xxv condition: good antique condition. General age-related toning, light foxing, small stains, handling marks, and minor creases to the paper. Some irregularity and wear to the outer sheet edges, consistent with age. The engraved images remain clear and attractive. Please review the photos carefully.
