A pair of French art deco flush mounts in clear partly frosted molded-pressed glass made circa 1930-35. The shades are made by the large glass manufactory of Jean Gauthier in the town of Ezanville a little north from Paris. In the mid 30s it became well-known for its glassware in bluish opalescent semi-crystal like we can often see on for instance Charles Ranc or Hubert Petitot chandeliers of the late thirties. The mountings are done in nickel plated solid brass. The ceiling light fixtures have a diameter of 23 cm (9,05") and are 4,92 high. This model Ezan cup is never signed.
The pair is in excellent condition. I re-nickeled the fixtures. And they come rewired. For the US with two American candelabra base sockets each.

Jean Gauthier had his first workshop at 12-14 rue Jean Robert in Paris and later expended with factories in the town of Ezanville. In the early days just after the first world war Gauthier made cameo shades that were sometimes signed Gauthier. The plants in Ezanville were opened for the production of art deco glassware in molded-pressed glass. Many art deco models are unsigned. Some are signed EJG for Etablissements Jean Gauthier. Others are signed J.Robert pseudonym for J.Gauthier based on the street name of the first workshop. In the 30s Gauthier started a line of shades done in opalescent semi-crystal, mainly cups. Some models are unsigned. Others are signed EZAN France, signature for Gauthier based on the city of the second plant. See less
