This antique pair is structurally sound, stable, and completely free of structural fractures, cracks, or restorations. Reflecting their genuine age and the delicate nature of earthenware, the bookends show expected surface wear. Notably, there are superficial "flea bite" nibbles and small shallow chips along the sharp outer points of the rear sawtooth borders, some finish scuffing on the flat backing panels, and a larger historic chip on the bottom corner of one base that exposes the lighter, unglazed inner clay core. These cosmetic blemishes are completely normal for authentic terracotta of this vintage and only serve to validate its unique history and character. See less
