Francis Hubens
An art deco lamp crafted in France circa 1930 by the famous Paris France based company of Francis Hubens. The thick shade is made in clear frosted moulded-pressed glass. During the interbellum Hubens was a designer and producer of art deco lighting in Paris (at 68 rue des Archives). He mainly used Degué made shades for his lamps chandeliers and wall lights. The Hubens signed shades are models Degué exclusively produced for Hubens. The base is in bronze or solid brass. A lamp with identical column but with a different bottom of the base and a shade in paper is represented in the 1933 Hubens catalog (which is no part of this sale). Note the matching decoration of base and shade.
The lamp is 45,1 cm (17,76") high and the shade has a diameter of 6,89 inches. The shade is signed Degué and the base shows the FH foundry marks for Francis Hubens. It is in excellent condition. Only minor traces of wear to the base. A nice patina for this 90 years old art deco lamp. I rewired it with stylish cloth covered twisted cord. And placed an American candelabra base socket and US 2-prong plug.
