A striking pair of vintage Indonesian Loro Blonyo figures, hand carved from solid wood and beautifully decorated with traditional polychrome paint and gilt accents. Representing the bride and groom, these iconic Javanese sculptures symbolize marital harmony, prosperity, fertility, and good fortune within the home.
Each figure is depicted seated cross-legged in a graceful ceremonial pose with folded hands. The bride wears an ornate headdress, necklace, and earrings, while the groom features a traditional cap and finely painted mustache. Their expressive faces and individually carved details reflect the craftsmanship of skilled Javanese artisans.
The naturally aged gilding, hand-painted garments, and authentic surface wear give the pair exceptional warmth and character. At nearly 18 inches tall, they make an impressive statement displayed on a console, bookshelf, mantel, or pedestal and complement both traditional and contemporary interiors.
A wonderful addition for collectors of Southeast Asian art, folk art, or globally inspired décor.
