An original 1920s Art Deco "Standing Nude on Ball" sculptural floor ashtray stand with ceramic insert, designed and produced by Frankart, Model T330. This piece depicts a stylized female nude with her legs crossed at the ankles, standing atop a polished gold orb base. Her arms are stretched high overhead to hold the vessel. The body is a cast metal alloy with a dark bronze-tone lacquer finish. The base features a classic tiered Art Deco step motif. The top is finished in brass and includes a removable ceramic ashtray insert with blue-green glaze.
The stand includes a maker's mark on the base. We believe this to be an early production piece, as it is stamped "pat. applied for" in place of the model number.
The piece functions as an ashtray, or the ceramic bowl can be removed for use as a small accent table or vide poche.
Frankart Inc. was an American foundry founded by Arthur von Frankenberg known for its iconic, stylized, geometric Jazz Age decorations.
