The tightly laminated narrow strips of hard maple strips show a linear grain pattern with intermittent joints. Please review the close-up photos as there is variation of lighter and darker wood tones throughout (where the overall top may appear lighter in photos). The wood does show some distress, including nicks, scratches, gouges, fading, stains etc. all adding to the vintage feel of the table. Overall smooth surface. This 8" long dining table has a new cast iron base; it is strong, stable and ready for daily use.
