This antique Chicago Cast Iron & Wood School Desk is a classic example of late 19th to early 20th century American classroom furniture. Has inkwell, pencil tray and storage.
• A. H. Andrews Co. was founded in Chicago in 1865 and became a leading producer of desks, chairs,
and church pews.
• A.H. Andrews Co. “Triumph” Series Cast Iron School Desk, patented Oct. 31, 1905
(Patent No. 803261) and produced between 1905-1915.
• 3–4 L marking indicates mid-size (mid to upper elementary).
• Dimensions: 22” wide x 30” deep, when fully extended x 13” seat height, 25” desk height
Original hardware, smooth hinge action, refinished wood, intact ironwork.
• Iron is solid with only light surface wear
• Wood is original, no major splits or crude repairs
• Hinge works smoothly and is original to the desk
This early American desk makes a great plant stand.
